We have just arrived in Loitokitok, our home base for our visit to Amboseli Game Preserve, so I'll do my best to catch you up on our last few days.

KIJABE TO TSAVO
We left Kijabe behind this morning and headed south to Tsavo West. All roads in Kenya, it seems, must make an obligatory pass directly through the exact center of Nairobi. This, on a Saturday morning, was no easy journey. It took us more than two hours to get through the city's traffic-snarled streets and then another interminable amount of time to travel sufficiently south of the city to extricate ourselves from the game of Russian roulette one must play in order to pass the thousands of semi-trucks heading south on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. Thankfully, we neither saw--nor ourselves experienced--a head-on collision.
Seven and a half hours later, we entered Tsavo National Park. We saw only a small part of Kenya's largest game preserve on our way to our digs at Ngulia Safari Camp but what we saw was spectacular. In the light of the sinking sun, the world of southern Kenya was rich, and mystical and mesmerizing.

wow. Gorgeous photos.
